Meanwhile, a financially strapped Batiatus receives an opportunity of a lifetime that involves his battling band of gladiators. Barca expects to buy his and his male lover's way out, while Spartacus anticipates his promised reunion with his enslaved wife, part of his reward for a monumental victory in the arena. When Ilithya learns the intentions of her friend, she wants a quality time for herself with Crixus, which may affect Lucretia's state of mind. . Licinia wants to have a quality time with Spartacus, but Lucretia believes that he has spent so much time without a woman and send a slave to him to practice.

While there, he makes an enemy of the powerful and ruthless Crixus and gets whipped into fighting shape by the whip-wielding taskmaster Doctore. They are deceived by the Roman commander, Claudius Glaber, who orders them to fight against the Greeks, something they had not counted on. In the arena, the enslaved Thracian manages to defeat four opponents and in allowing the Thracian to live, Senator Albinius decides to name him after a Thracian king from the past: Spartacus. But just in case things go wrong, Spartacus dreams and schemes an escape plan. Season 1, Episode 5 February 19, 2010 Season 1, Episode 5 February 19, 2010 Bitter enemies Spartacus and Crixus are charged with learning to fight as a team in order to take on an unbeaten champion in the arena. And Spartacus' new owner, the crafty Batiatus, makes him an offer he finds difficult to refuse.
Season 1, Episode 3 February 5, 2010 Season 1, Episode 3 February 5, 2010 As the gladiators prep for an important competition that will be the highlight of a festival, Spartacus cleverly maneuvers to secure the right to battle Crixus, the unbeaten champion of Capua, in the main event. The Thracian is transported to Capua where Senator Albinius is sponsoring gladiatorial games. In its war on the Greek peninsula, the Romans convince the Thracians to join them in defeating the Getae, who have been raiding Thracian villages for generations. The Thracians are fierce warriors and prove to be valiant in battle. Meanwhile, Ilithyia continues her quest to get rid of Spartacus and tries to coerce one of the new recruits into doing away with the champion.
But disenchantment with the Romans soon sets in when their allies' battle strategies leave their village unprotected from barbarian invaders. . . . . . .
